Pizza Dough
Ingredients:
1 cup of warm water
1 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp yeast
2 Tbsp of oil
3-4 cups of flour
1/2 tsp of salt
Method:
1. Place the warm water, sugar and yeast in a large bowl and let it sit until the yeast begins to ferment (bubbles will rise to the surface).
2. Add 1 cup of flour, oil and salt. Beat with the electric beaters 3-4 minutes. This will begin to develop the gluten.
3. Add additional cups of flour and stir until well blended.
4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes adding additional flour if needed (this continues to develop the gluten) **the dough
should be smooth and elastic**
5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning once to coat the oil. Cover the bowl with saran wrap and set aside until doubled.
6. Punch the dough back.
7. Roll dough into a round pizza crust, the same size as the pizza pan and pierce with a fork.
8. Top with pizza sauce, cheese, vegetables and meat.
9. Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
