Serving Sizes
It is important to recognize that a Canada’s Food Guide serving size might not be the same as the serving size a person actually consumes. For example, a salad served as an entrée might have a base of 2 cups of leafy greens as well as an additional ½ cup of chopped vegetables. While this is the restaurant’s portion size for one person, the Canada’s food guide counts this as a minimum of 2-3 vegetable servings. Add meat, cheese and dressing and you are looking at additional serving sizes in other categories as well!
Below are some of the recommended serving sizes according to the Guide along with the recommended daily servings for teens.
