Welcome to Hospitality with me, Chef D!
Welcome to all students in my grade nine hospitality and grade twelve baking classes this semester. My name is Mrs DeBeyer (a.k.a. Chef D). I look forward to teaching you techniques that will assist you in becoming accomplished young cooks and bakers. Please feel free to explore this website. On it, I have included resources that should be of use to you now and in the future including course materials, recipes, and supplementary culinary information you might find interesting. For those of you in my new baking class, additional materials will be added here as the semester progresses.
This week in all hospitality classes we will focus our attention on the following items in preparation for moving into the kitchens next week.
Kitchen/Classroom Expectations
Kitchen Safety
Sanitation
Food Safety
Introduction to Kitchen Tools
Introduction to the Hospitality Kitchens
*This week, all students should expect to complete the UGDSB board approved hospitality safety training on UG Cloud's Brightspace and will write the grade nine safety and sanitation test or for grade twelve students, the Food Handler's exam/certification, as these are mandatory requirements before beginning to cook. All safety agreements must be completed by parents/guardians and submitted to me no later than Friday.
By Tuesday of next week we should be in the swing of things as I hope to begin offering CW Eats Breakfast and Lunch (formerly known as Toonie Lunches and Wake up Wellington). Follow us on Instagram (@cweats_) or Twitter (@CwEats) and view the weekly menu offerings you will be preparing. I look forward to meeting all of you and hope that we have a fantastic semester together!
